Nikon Lenswear lenses are available from many opticians, and we would rather say so plainly. What differs at STOTTS. is not the lens: it is the assessment before it, the measurements that go into it, the configuration it is set up as, and the dispensing and review around it. The same Nikon design, fitted to its defaults, is a different pair of glasses from one configured around your day.
This page is not an eye test — any change in your vision is an examination first.

Read is set around 0.7 m at eye-point, depending on your reading addition; 1 Metre and 2 Metres are set at eye-point and decided by the furthest distance you actually use at your desk.

Transitions GEN S, XTRActive and XTRActive Polarized
GEN S: “fully clear indoors”, “darkens in seconds”. XTRActive: “the darkest in the car”, “clear indoors with a hint of tint”. XTRActive Polarized: “up to 90% polarisation efficiency” outdoors.
Behind a windscreen the guide states polarisation efficiency is 30%, which is not classified as polarised — so this is not a substitute for dedicated polarised sunglasses when driving.

What the same lens needs from the optician
Four values a personalised design accepts — measured, not defaulted.
A personalised Nikon design can be ordered with the design's default values for how the frame sits on your face, or with yours. Where the design accepts them, we measure these four rather than leaving them at the design's defaults — and where a design does not accept them, we say so rather than imply a measurement it cannot use.
Position-of-wear — how the frame sits: wrap angle, pantoscopic tilt, vertex distance — measured in practice where the design accepts it.

A fair question
“Can I just ask for a SeeMax Ultimate?”
You can — and we would want to know why first. The name is a Nikon design; whether it is the right one for you depends on your prescription, your measurements, your frame and how you adapt, none of which a questionnaire can settle. That is why the Lens Profile names a family and never a tier, and why the most individually specified designs are decided with you at a Signature Vision Consultation at Unsworth or Urmston rather than picked from a list. If the answer is that a simpler design does the job properly, we will say so.

Do you fit Nikon lenses?
Yes. Every STOTTS. practice dispenses Nikon Lenswear lenses — and every one is fitted as a STOTTS. configuration: your prescription validated, the distances you actually use measured, the design parameters set from those measurements where the design accepts them, and a fitting review after you collect.
Are Nikon lenses ‘exclusive’ to STOTTS.?
No. Nikon Lenswear supplies opticians across the UK. The configuration is what's ours — the assessment, the measurements, the design parameters and the dispensing that go around the lens.
Which STOTTS. practices fit Nikon lenses?
All six practices dispense them. The Lens Atelier at Unsworth and Urmston is where designs are explained and, where available, demonstrated — and where the Signature Vision Consultation for the most individually specified designs takes place.
How long do Nikon lenses take?
It depends on the design, the material and any specialist requirements — a stock single-vision lens and an individually surfaced progressive are not the same job. We will confirm the timescale for your configuration at your appointment rather than quote an average here.
